Greater Calcutta Gas supply Corporation Limited (A Govt. of West Bengal Enterprise) is the first city gas company of India incorporated under the Companies Act 1956, having its registered office at 14, Canal West Road, Kolkata 700009. It is the only state owned organization that dealt with eco- friendly coal gas which was supplied to thousands of domestic consumers as well as commercial and industrial units in Kolkata and adjoining districts through underground pipeline. Greater Calcutta Gas Supply Corporation Limited was getting coal gas from Dankuni Coal Complex, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, since 1990. Greater Calcutta Gas Supply Corporation Limited, in spite of various constraints, was carrying the legacy of supplying coal gas by Oriental Gas Company Ltd. from the days dating back to the Sepoy Mutiny in 1857 and thus can truly claim to the heritage institution and pride of West Bengal.

Total supply of coal gas suspended from DCC in the year 2019 due to vulnerable condition of the main trunk pipelines under the deck of Vivekananda Bridge as decided by the State Govt. to avoid any loss of lives & property.
